Postponing debaathification illegal – official

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The official spokesperson of the Iraqi government said on Thursday that postponing the application of accountability and justice (debaathification) measures until after the parliamentary elections is illegal.

“The law must be applied as it is,” Dr. Ali al-Dabbagh said in a release received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He said that the government is seeking a transparent parliamentary election that offers equal democratic opportunities to all candidates.
