Mortars hit U.S. base in Salah al-Din

SALAH AL-DIN / Aswat al-Iraq: A number of mortar shells have fallen on a U.S. base in Salah al –Din, but no casualties have been reported, a local police source said on Thursday.

“During an early hour this morning, a number of mortar shells landed on the U.S. Camp Anaconda in Yathrib district, southern Tikrit,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
There has been no word on casualties, the source pointed out.
Aswat al-Iraq has tried to contact the U.S. side, but to no avail.

Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din province, lies 175km north of Baghdad.
