Gunmen kidnap civilian, army finds body in Diala

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Unknown gunmen kidnapped a civilian, while army forces found an unidentified corpse in northeastern Diala, a security source said.

“One civilian was kidnapped on Tuesday (Nov. 17) near Murgana village between Jalawlaa and al-Saadiya district south of Khanaqin, northeastern Diala,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The kidnapped man was born in 1979 and he is from al-Saadiya district,” the source added.

“Army forcs found an unknown body today on the road between Mendli and al-Saadiya,” a military source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The body shows signs of gunshot wounds,” he added.

Khanaqin, one of the disputed areas between the central government in Baghdad and the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), is 155 km northeast of Baaquba, which lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
