ISX trades over 930 million shares on Tuesday

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi Stock Exchange (ISX) on Tuesday traded over more than 930 million shares worth over 1.6 billion Iraqi dinars (nearly $1.3 million U.S. dollars) through 385 transactions.
The shares of 23 out of a total 61 electronically-registered companies were traded during Tuesday’s session, with shares of 13 going up, 5 down while five retaining their previous rates.
The banking sector topped today’s trading activities with 81% of the shares and 80% of the trading volume, followed by the industrial sector with transactions over eight companies.
The ISX witnessed the first e-trading session on April 19 over five registered companies, three banks and two hotels. The banks were the Ashur International Bank (AIB), Al-Mansour Bank and the Iraqi Credit Bank while the hotels were the Ashtar Hotel and Al-Mansour Hotel.
On June 7, the Iraqi Middle East Investment Bank and the Warka Bank joined the electronic trading sessions.
The ISX now holds three electronic sessions on a weekly basis: Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
