BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Baghdad Mayoralty invited the Iraqi mass media to attend a concert on Monday to be held under the auspices of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to celebrate the National Sovereignty Day.

The event, to feature Iraqi singers like Qassem al-Sultan, Abad Falak and Raad al-Nasiri as well as folk poets and musical bands, was name lent by Maliki as a national sovereignty day coinciding with the U.S. forces’ exit from Iraqi cities as scheduled on June 30.

The concert sponsorship by Maliki, who leads the Islamic Dawa Party, comes a few days after he called on the Iraqi people to celebrate the withdrawal day as a national one marking the nation’s retrieval of its genuine sovereignty over its territories.
