Gunman arrested, 50 rockets seized in Wassit

WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: An Iraqi security force on Thursday arrested a gunman involved in killing a number of civilians, central Kut, while another force seized 50 rockets north of the city, said security sources from Wassit province.
“The arrested terrorist has the grade of a slaughter,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The terrorist was arrested in central Kut,” he said.
“The operation was based on intelligence tip offs,” he added.
The source pointed out that interrogation are underway with the arrested “terrorist.”
Another security source said that Iraqi forces seized 50 rockets north of Kut city.
“The rockets were hidden underground in a village in al-Noamaniya suburb, 40 km north of Kut,” he said.
The source pointed out that the rockets were found after intelligence tip off, and that they are leftovers of the Saddam regime’s wars.
Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
