8 wanted men nabbed, ammo found in Karbala

KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Eight wanted persons have been arrested in different parts of Karbala province throughout the past 48 hours, a local police source said on Monday, adding that arms and ammunition were seized during the operation.
“Karbala police conducted a wide-scale raid in southern and western Karbala in search of wanted men and arms dumps,” Maj. Alaa Abbas told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“Those arrested included two terror suspects,” the major noted.
“Six cannon balls of 122 mm caliber, two RBK machine guns and three Kalashnikov rifles were found in Ayn al-Tamr area (85 km west of Karbala),” he added.
The Shiite city of Karbala lies 110 southwest of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
