Former deputy governor escapes to Germany following corruption charges

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: The former deputy governor of Diala province has escaped the country in light of corruption charges, according to an official source.

“This morning, Awf Rahoumi escaped to Germany after had been found to be involved in administrative and financial corruption cases,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Diala’s police command has denied any knowledge of the official’s escape.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
