Large arms cache seized south of Mandili

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: A combined army-police force seized a large weapons and explosives cache south of the district of Mandili on Friday, a security source in Diala said.

“Several RPG and BKC weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 12 kg of explosive material, hundreds of mortar shells and some light arms were found in a cache in Nada area, (17 km) south of Mandili,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Mandili district is 55 km northeast of the city of Baaquba.

“Intelligence tip-offs have led the security agencies to the cache but no suspect was arrested,” the source added.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
