16 arrested on charges of killing mosque preacher in Jalawlaa

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: A combined force from the Emergency Police and the Iraqi army detained on Friday 16 persons in Jalawlaa district on charges of involvement in the murder of a mosque imam and preacher, a local security source said.

“The force launched a search raid in al-Jamaheer neighborhood, Jalawlaa, (30 km) southwest of Khanaqin, and arrested 16 suspected murderers of the preacher,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Khanaqin district lies 155 km northeast of Baaquba.

“The al-Jamaheer mosque preacher and three of his brothers are among the detained person,” he added.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
