College student killed in clashes with gunmen in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: A female college student was killed on Thursday and one gunman wounded in clashes between police and unknown armed men, in northern Mosul city, said a source from Ninewa province’s police.

The clashes took place in front of Mosul University’s campus, in the north of the city,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

The armed confrontations occurred when police forces were able to identify a booby-trapped car driven by a number of individuals in Al-Majmoa Al-Thaqafiya neighborhood, near the University,” he said.

Police forces tracked the gunmen after they left the car,” he added.

Experts detonated the car without causing any casualties,” he noted.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
