6 AQI members nabbed in Diala

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Six members of al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) were arrested during a security operation in Diala province, a local police chief said on Tuesday.

“Today, police forces carried out a raid in Bahraz district (5 km south of Baaquba), during which six AQI members were captured,” Staff Maj. Gen. Abdelhussein al-Shamri told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Three large arms caches were found during the operation that targeted al-Qaeda strongholds in the district, Shamri added.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
