Munitions found in Karbala

KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq: A large amount of arms and ammunition was found in two areas in Karbala province, a local media source said on Monday.

“Today, security forces conducted a search raid in Ain al-Tamr area (85 km west of Karbala) and found three hand grenades, 17 shells, a mortar shell and three missiles,” Maj. Alaa Abbas told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“During another raid in al-Khayrat area (23 km east of Karbala), 24 rockets were discovered,” Abbas added.

The Shiite city of Karbala lies 110 km southwest of Baghdad.
