Gunmen shoot cop in Babel

BABEL / Aswat al-Iraq: A police officer on Sunday was wounded when unknown gunmen shot him in northern Babel province, according to a local security source.

“Unknown gunmen opened fire on a police colonel while he was walking down a street in al-Iskandriya district (50 km north of Hilla city), wounding him in his right leg,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The source did not provide further details.
Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad.
