6 al-Qaeda wanted men detained in Diala

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Police forces on Wednesday arrested six al-Qaeda wanted men in central Baaquba, said a senior police officer.

“Policemen waged a security operation on Wednesday morning (Mar. 18) targeting Jarf al-Malh region in central Baaquba, where they captured six al-Qaeda wanted men who were about to launch a Katyusha rocket against the U.S. base in central Baaquba,” General Abdul Hussein al-Shemri told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The region witnessed the distribution of leaflets of what is called the Islamic State of Iraq threatening governmental employees, policemen and soldiers,” he explained.

Baaquba, the capital of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
