BABEL / Aswat al-Iraq: Security authorities on Sunday arrested five men on charges of involvement in murders and an explosion south of the city of al-Hilla, a police source in Babel said.

“The five wanted persons were arrested in a search raid on their homes in the village of al-Dabla, (15 km) south of Hilla, on charges of murders and a blast in the city,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The arrests, based on intelligence tip-offs and conducted in accordance with Article 4 of the law on terrorism, came within the context of a weeklong campaign by security authorities in the province to track down wanted persons, outlaws and members of Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) network,” he added.

Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad.
