Wanted tribe’s sheikh arrested in Hilla

BABEL / Aswat al-Iraq: Police forces arrested a chieftain for “security reasons” north of Hilla city, a source from Babel province’s police said on Saturday.

“Sheikh Majid Ahmed, a tribal leader in al-Iskandariya district (50 km north of Hilla), was arrested on terror charges,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The source also said that police forces seized 50 kg of explosives in addition to a quantity of arms and ammunition in Jorfal-Sakhar district, 60 km northwest of Hilla.
Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad.
