NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Local authorities in Sinjar announced a curfew in the district and the beginning of a military operation to track down gunmen in the area, the mayor of Sinajr said on Thursday.

“The operation is conducted by Iraqi-U.S. forces,” Dikheel Qassem Hassoun told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Sinjar is 120 km west of Mosul.

“The operation relies on intelligence tip-off,” he said.
