Armed group leader detained in Diala

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Police forces on Thursday arrested a leader of what is called the Islamic State of Iraq in the south of Baaquba, the chief of the Diala police said.

“Police forces arrested on Thursday (Mar. 12) the Mufti of what is called the Islamic State of Iraq, Mohamed Naseh Karim, in Bahraz region in south of Baaquba,” General Abdul Hussein al-Shemri told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“He is suspected of being involved in killing and displacing citizens in the province,” he added.

Baaquba, the capital of Diala, is 57km northeast of Baghdad.
