2 blasts in Baghdad leave 2 officials, 5 people wounded

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Two officials were wounded and five people were injured when two blasts took place on Thursday in central and western Baghdad, according to a source from the Iraqi police.

“A roadside bomb went off targeting the motorcade of General Sameer al-Wailee of the traffic directorate while passing through al-Nahdha neighborhood, central Baghdad,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“Al-Wailee, two of his guards, and two other persons were wounded in the attack,” he said.

“An adhesive bomb attached to the car of Brigadier Taha Khidhayer, director general at the civil defense directorate, went off in al-Yarmook neighborhood, western Baghdad,” he added.

“Khidhyer and his son were injured in the attack,” he noted.
