2 cops killed, civilian wounded in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Two policemen were killed and a civilian was wounded by unknown gunmen on Monday in western Mosul, a police source said.

“Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police checkpoint in Mosul al-Jadieda region in western Mosul, killing two policemen and injuring a civilian,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The two bodies were sent to the morgue, while the wounded was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he noted.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, is 405 km north of Baghdad.
