Explosives found in Babel

BABEL / Aswat al-Iraq: Police forces in Babel province found a large amount of explosives in northern Hilla city, a local security source said on Monday.

“Today, police forces conducted a wide-scale search operation in al-Munshaat neighborhood, al-Iskandriya district (50 km north of Hilla),” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“One ton of TNT explosives, 5 tons of C4 explosives and a large amount of artillery shells were seized during the operation,” the source noted.
The operation was carried out in light of intelligence tips from local residents, he added.

Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad.
