Iraqi army officer arrested with 13 missiles in Amara

MISSAN / Aswat al-Iraq: Missan policemen arrested an Iraqi army officer with 13 missiles ready for firing in his possession in central al-Amara on Saturday, according to the province’s police information & relations director.

“The rockets, which were inside a pickup truck the officer owns, were ready for firing to target security departments in the city,” Col. Sadeq Sallam told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The arrest took place based on intelligence tip-offs and local residents’ cooperation,” he added.

Amara, the capital city of Missan province, lies 390 km south of Baghdad.
