Murderer of senior officer arrested in Wassit

WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: Police forces arrested a person wanted for abducting and killing a high-ranking military pilot, said a source from Wassit province’s police.

“The arrest took place in a raid operation that targeted the wanted man’s house in central Kut city,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The wanted man confessed that in 2006 in Sadr city, eastern Baghdad, he had kidnapped and killed General Abdullah Ubaid Hameed al-Mayiahi, a pilot, in addition to committing other crimes of killing and kidnapping of other civilians,” the source added.

Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
