16 wanted men arrested in Basra

BASRA / Aswat al-Iraq: Police forces arrested 16 persons wanted on “terror and criminal” charges in a security operation north of Basra and seized a weapons cache west of the city, said a source from the Basra police information office.
“The arrests took place in the areas of Hartha, Garma and Mdaina,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The cache was seized in an area 40 km west of the city,” he said.
The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
