WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: Police patrols on Thursday released one kidnapped woman that was abducted around a week ago, and arrested one of her kidnappers in a raid operation on a house in Kut city, said a source from Wassit province’s police.

“The gang demanded that the abducted woman’s parents pay a ransom,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The operation relied on intelligence tips,” he said.

Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
