NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Thirty-one detainees on Wednesday were released from Mosul prison after they have been cleared of all wrongdoing, according to a local police source.
“Those released are residents of Hassan Shami village, Hamdaniya district, and were detained by the Multi-National Force (MNF) during a raid on the village on November 9, 2008,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“No evidence has been found of their involvement in acts of violence,” the source added.
Hamdaniya lies 30 km east of Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, which is 405 km north of Baghdad.
