KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Three persons on Monday were arrested during a security campaign in southwestern Kirkuk province, according to a local police chief.

“This afternoon, a police force launched a search raid in al-Taleea village, al-Rashad district (35 km southwest of Kirkuk city), during which three persons were arrested and four unlicensed rifles and a vehicle were confiscated,” Brig. Sarhad Qadir told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The raid was conducted after four civilians, including three personnel from the North Oil Company, were kidnapped by gunmen near al-Rashad district on Wednesday (Feb. 25),” Qadir added.
Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km north of Baghdad.
