Police detonate suspected car bomb

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Police forces on Wednesday detonated a suspected car bomb in western Mosul city, according to a local police source.

“On Wednesday, a car rigged with explosives driven by a suicide bomber was detonated by the police in Rabia district, western Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The operation was conducted in light of intelligence reports about the discovery of a car bomb in the area,” the source noted, adding that a police cordon was immediately put in place.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
