2 AQI deaths in clashes with Diala security forces

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: An Emergency Contingent force killed two members of al-Qaeda network in clashes that erupted inside a village of the district of Khanaqin on Monday, the Diala police chief said.
“Armed clashes broke out between forces from the Iraqi Emergency Contingent in Diala and operatives of al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) in al-Nada area, Khanaqin district, (155 km) northeast of Baaquba city, leaving two AQI members killed,” Maj. General Abdulkareem Khalaf told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Shimari did not give further details about the clashes.
The Iraqi security forces have launched successive military operations since June 2008 to track down members of al-Qaeda in the province of Diala.
Baaquba, the capital city of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
