ARBIL / Aswat al-Iraq: Two wanted persons on Monday were arrested by Iraqi forces near Makhmour district, according to an army source.
“Today, a force from the Iraqi army and police arrested two members of al-Naqshabandiya group following a search raid in Diozati village (30 km west of Makhmour),” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Al-Naqshabandiya is a group that introduces itself as an Islamic spiritual dogmatic organization, but its ideologies changed into ones of armed struggle against the occupation forces.
The group is believed to be behind armed operations in the provinces of Arbil, Kirkuk and other disputed areas.
Makhmour is administratively affiliated with Ninewa province. It is one of the disputed areas between the central government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). It lies 68 km southwest of Arbil city, which is 362 km northeast of Baghdad.
