2 wanted people arrested, rocket defused in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: A police force arrested two wanted people in central Kirkuk, while another force defused a rocket that was due to be launched south in the city.
“One of those arrested is wanted in Salah al-Din province on abduction charges, while the other is wanted in Anbar province for being affiliated with al-Tawheed wal-Jihad organization,” Beston Qafari, the director of Azadi police, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He did not mention further details.
Another security source said that a police patrol today seized a locally-made Katyusha rocket that was ready to be launched in al-Khasa neighborhood near the 4th bridge, southern Kirkuk.
“The rocket was defused without damage,” the source added.
The oil-rich city of Kirkuk is 250 km northeast of Baghdad.
