THI-QAR / Aswat al-Iraq: Policemen in Thi-Qar captured four wanted persons in two different areas of the province on Sunday, according to a release by the Thi-Qar police department.

“Three persons wanted on criminal charges were arrested today (Feb. 22),” read the release as received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The fourth wanted man was captured based on intelligence tip-offs by the 6th Emergency Contingent in the district of al-Shatra, (40 km) north of al-Nassiriya city right after he returned from an Iraqi province,” the release added.

“The wanted man has taken part with gunmen in attacks on a police station during the incidents that coincided with the security operation codenamed Saulat al-Forsan (Knights’ Assault) in early 2008,” it noted.

Nassiriya, the capital city of Thi-Qar province, lies 380 km south of Baghdad.
