Local official arrested in Wassit

WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi security forces on Wednesday detained a local official in northern Wassit for perpetrating “terrorist operations”, a security source said.
“An Iraqi security force on Wednesday (Feb. 18) arrested Mohamed Zidan, mayor of al-Suwaira district, north of Kut, for being accused of perpetrating terrorist operations,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He did not give more details.
Kut, the capital of Wassit, is 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
