Over 50 mortars found near Kirkuk

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: More than 50 mortar shells on Tuesday were found in Kirkuk province, according to a local police source.

“The shells, which belong to the former Iraqi regime, were discovered in al-Ton Kobri district (35 km north of Kirkuk city),” Brig. Sarhad Qadir told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
