KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: A joint U.S.-Iraqi force on Monday arrested 15 wanted men in Kirkuk province, according to a local police chief.
“During a search raid on seven villages in al-Rashad and al-Riyadh districts (35 km southwest of Kirkuk), a joint U.S.-Iraqi force arrested 15 persons, including wanted men and members of al-Naqshabandiya group,” Brig. Sarhad Qadir told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Al-Naqshabandiya is a group that introduces itself as an Islamic spiritual dogmatic organization, but its ideologies changed into ones of armed struggle against the “occupying forces.”
Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 northeast of Baghdad.
