3 Iranian gunmen arrested in Khanaqin

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Policemen arrested three Iranian gunmen in a neighborhood in Khanaqin district on Friday, a local official security source said.

“The three Iranians, who were carrying guns and most probably belong to the Iranian intelligence, were captured in Tolfrosh neighborhood in Khanaqin, (155 km) northeast of Baaquba,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

The source noted that the Iranians are suspected of “involvement in terrorist operations in the district recently”.

“They have rented a house in Khanaqin without telling the security agencies first,” the source said.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
