NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: A total of 30 detainees were freed on Thursday from jails in Kurdistan, the deputy governor of Ninewa province said.
“The president of Kurdistan region Massoud Barzani on Thursday (Feb. 12) ordered the release of 30 detainees who have been in Kurdish detention centers since 2006,” Khisro Kouran told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“Most of the detainees are from Ninewa province,” he added.
“The release came after a meeting between Barzani and chiefs of Arab tribes in Ninewa which was held last January 19 in Arbil,” he explained.
