9 persons arrested in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Joint forces on Wednesday arrested nine people and seized amounts of weapons and ammunitions in southwest of Kirkuk, a local police chief said.
“Police forces, backed by U.S. troops, launched a crackdown operation in al-Rashad district and Dakmat al-Ulia village in southwest of Kirkuk,” Brig. Sarhad Qader told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“Nine persons, some of them are wanted, were arrested during the operation,” he added.
“They forces also seized nine guns and three mortar shells as well as leaflets belong to al-Naqshabandiya group,” he also said.
Al-Naqshabandiya is a group that introduces itself as an Islamic spiritual dogmatic organization, but its ideologies changed into ones of armed struggle against the occupation forces.
Kirkuk is located 250 km north of Baghdad.
