WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: Quick Response Forces on Monday arrested four wanted men for their alleged involvement in the kidnap of a former health official in Wassit over a year ago, according to a security source.

“Those arrested are believed to have a hand in the kidnap of Diyaa al-Din Jaleel, a former director of Wassit’s health department, about one and half years ago,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The four persons were captured during a raid on several houses in al-Jihad neighborhood, western Kut,” the source explained.
On August 22, 2007, Jaleel was kidnapped by unknown gunmen who broke into his office and took him to an unknown destination. The kidnappers set him free a few hours later.

Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 southeast of Baghdad.
