Cop killed, another kidnapped with father south of Sinjar

DUHUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Unidentified gunmen attacked a village south of Sinjar and machine-gunned a policeman and kidnapped another with his father, according the district mayor.

“The killed policeman’s relatives have told us that unidentified gunmen in military uniform attacked the village of Nawfali at a late hour of Saturday (Feb. 7) evening, killing one policeman in the district of Sinjar, (120 km) west of Mosul, and kidnapping another policeman and his father and took them to an unknown place,” Dakheel Qassem Hassoun told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The authorities are investigating the incident. The culprits could not be arrested yet,” he added.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
