SULAIMANIYA / Aswat al-Iraq: Kurdish security forces on Wednesday found two hidden depots of explosives in southwest of Sulaimaniya, a senior police officer said.
“The forces found the two hidden depots in Jabara region in southern Kafri district, southwest of Sulaimaniya,” Jalal Shurawi told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The depots contain 120 cannonballs and 85 mortar shells,” he noted.
The Kurdistan region’s government issued a decision last February to form a province, which consists of Khaniqeen, Kafri, Klara and Jamjamal districts.
Kafri district is on the areas administratively disputed by the provinces of Diala, Kirkuk and al-Sulaimaniya. It lies 118 km northeast of Baaquba, the capital of Diala, 120 km southwest of Kirkuk, and 185 km southwest of Sulaimaniya.
