6 wanted men arrested in Basra

BASRA / Aswat al-Iraq: Six men wanted on “criminal and terrorist” charges were arrested on Thursday, according to the Basra police media office.

“Basra police forces conducted a search raid in different areas of the province, capturing six wanted men suspected of involvement in criminal and terrorist charges,” the office told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“Our forces also seized a 500 KV electricity generator that was most probably stolen from the holy Shiite province of al-Najaf,” it added.

The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
