Diala police complete preparations for poll

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Diala’s police chief on Tuesday said that security forces in the province have completed all preparations for the upcoming provincial council elections, scheduled to take place early next week.
“An estimated 56,000 voters, including 21,000 police personnel, will head to 130 polling stations all over the province for the special voting,” Staff Maj. Gen. Abdelhussein al-Shamri told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
A total of 641 candidates are competing in provincial elections in Diala this year.
Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
