KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Fifteen wanted persons who are believed to belong to the so-called “al-Naqshabandiya” group were arrested during a security operation in Kirkuk on Monday, according to a local police chief.
“During an early hour on Monday morning, a joint force from the police, army, the intelligence and the criminal investigations department conducted a search raid in al-Dabs district (45km northeast of Kirkuk),” Brig. Sarhad Qadir told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Al Naqshabandiya is a group that introduces itself as an Islamic spiritual dogmatic organization, but its ideologies changed into ones of armed struggle against the occupation forces.
Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
