Eight explosive belts seized in southern Baaquba

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Diala police on Sunday seized eight explosive belts ready for use in southern Baaquba city, according to the province’s police commander.

“The belts were seized in a military operation today south of Bohroz district, 5 km south of Baaquba,” General Abdilhussein al-Shemmary told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“Police forces were also able to defuse five roadside bombs in the same area, and seized large quantities of ammunition,” he added.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
