Diala police arrest 21 persons

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Diala security forces on Sunday arrested 21 persons, including seven members of the al-Qaeda network, in different areas of the province, a senior police official said.

“Police forces conducted security raids during the early hours of Sunday in different areas of Diala, arresting seven of the most dangerous elements of al-Qaeda and 14 suspected others,” the Diala police chief, Maj. General Abdelhussein al-Shimari, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“Those seven members of al-Qaeda are wanted in accordance with the 4th item of the law on terrorism on charges of involvement in killings and sectarian-motivated forced relocation of a large number of families,” Shimari added.

Diala, whose capital city is Baaquba, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
