8 people killed, 6 wounded in Iraq in 24 hours

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Eight people were killed and six others were wounded in violent acts throughout Iraq during the last 24 hours, according to security sources who spoke to Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

In Baghdad, a civilian was killed and two others were wounded on Thursday in a car bomb explosion in the southeast of the city.

On Wednesday, one Iraqi soldier was killed and another was wounded when a U.S. patrol opened fire on them in al-Zaafaraniya area, southern Baghdad.

In Mosul, U.S. forces on Thursday killed three brothers inside their house, in a raid operation south of the city, said a source from Ninewa province’s police.

In Salah al-Din, a child was severely wounded on Wednesday noon by an explosive charge that targeted a U.S. patrol vehicle in Samarra, a security source said, adding that a beheaded body was found in a separate incident.

In Basra, a woman on Wednesday was killed by a landmine in Jubeida area in the west of the province, according to the media office of the local police.
