Kidnapped cop found dead in Basra

BASRA / Aswat al-Iraq: Police patrols on Wednesday found the body of a kidnapped policeman in west of Basra, the media official of the Basra police said.
“A force from the borders police on Wednesday morning (Jan. 21) found the body of a policeman in al-Zubair district, west of Basra,” Shawqi al-Mohmadawi told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The body bore signs of gunshot wounds,” he added.
“The cop had been kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Tuesday in al-Zubair district while on his way to work,” he also said.
Basra is 590 km south of Baghdad.
