IED kills, wounds 2 civilians in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: A civilian was killed and another one was injured in a bomb blast in southwestern Kirkuk on Wednesday morning, the deputy chief pf the al-Meqdam police said.

“A local-made improvised explosive device went off Wednesday morning (Jan. 21) near al-Nour al-Kabier mosque in southwestern Kirkuk,” Colonel Kamel Ahmed told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The explosion killed a civilian, injured another one and damaged three civilian vehicles,” he added.

He gave no more details.

Kirkuk lies 250 km northeast of Baghdad.
